Youth transitional program or Kahua Palekana aims to provide a supportive bridge-housing initiative for youth aged 18-26 transitioning out of foster care, offering them a safe and nurturing environment as they prepare for independent living. This project will focus on equipping these young individuals with essential life skills, resources, and guidance, thereby reducing the risk of homelessness in the community and fostering a smoother transition into adulthood.
Kahua Palekana is thoughtfully designed to create a welcoming atmosphere where visitors are greeted at the administrative building, flowing seamlessly into a common area that features a living room, kitchen, and technology center. The surrounding square buildings serve as sleeping quarters, each with a central garden that enhances the natural environment, while a play court in the backyard provides an inviting space for recreation and community interaction.
